Thank you for trying Klid. It turns a MIDI file into a cinematic piano video, right in your browser. You’re one of the first people outside the team to use it, so everything you notice helps, including what worked.
What you need
- A computer, Windows or Mac, with Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. Phones aren’t ready yet.
- Speakers or headphones connected and switched on. Klid records the piano through your computer’s sound, so it can’t export without them.
- A MIDI file of a piece, ideally one you play. If you also have a recording of yourself playing it, bring that too.
If you received a beta pass
Open your personal link (it looks like klidpiano.com/?beta=klid-…) once, in the browser you’ll use. From then on that browser has everything in Klid Pro: no Klid mark on your videos, your own logo, 4K, camera keyframes and particle styles. Your own backgrounds are free for everyone. The pass is personal, so please don’t share it. If you switch browsers or computers, open the link again there.
What to try
- Open klidpiano.com, drag your MIDI file onto the page and press play.
- If you have a recording, add it with Audio and line it up with Match.
- Choose a look: 9:16 or 16:9, the camera view, a background, and colours for each hand in Style.
- Export a short part first (about 30 seconds), then a whole piece. Keep the tab open while it renders; for a long piece, keep the computer plugged in.
- Open the video in the player you normally use. Does it play with sound? Does the music stay in time with the keys all the way to the end?
Which features are free or Pro may change as we learn what people use.
If something goes wrong
If an export stops early or comes out without sound, Klid shows a message and offers to send us a problem report. Please choose Always send reports. A report holds your browser and graphics chip, the export’s settings and how long each step took, never your music or anything about you. Then press Feedback and tell us what you were doing.
Tell us how it went
Press Feedback at the top right of Klid, even when everything worked. Your browser, system and Klid version are attached for you, so just describe what you tried and what you saw. Leave your email there if you’d like an answer.
What we’d most like to hear about:
- Whether long exports finish on your computer, and how long they take.
- Whether the sound stays in time with the keys.
- Anything that confused you, or that you looked for and couldn’t find.
- Which feature would you pay for, and which feel like they should be free?
Privacy
Your music and files never leave your computer. Klid counts usage without cookies; with a beta pass, those counts note that a beta tester did it, so we can tell your results from our own testing. The details are on the Privacy page. Questions: hi@klidpiano.com.
